The goal of this chapter is to focus on the most recent issues in rehabilitation of bronchial asthma. A special consideration will be devoted to occupational asthma, childhood asthma, asthma and sports. The goals of a rehabilitation program for pulmonary diseases are: 1) to evaluate and monitor impairment resulting from the patient's lung disease; 2) to alleviate debilitating physical and psychological symptoms; 3) to return the patient to the highest possible functional capacity; 4) to promote social reintegration. A comprehensive rehabilitation program for asthma should include: monitoring and self-monitoring; pharmacological and/or immunological therapy; education and control of psychosocial aspects; control of environmental factors and smoking cessation; exercise training; physiotherapy.
