Amministrazione e amministratori pubblici: le enigmatiche figure di Syagrius, Antonius, Severus e Palladius

The figure of the two consuls of 382 a.C. are in part obscure. It is uncertain not only who is the Theodosius’ related quoted by Themistius, but also the opportunity to imagine the existence of two distinct Syagrii, both entrusted with the highest dignities of the State. Other central theme of the paper is the succession of pretorian prefects in the West (in 382 a.C.) and the role of praefectus urbi Severus. b) Taking two constitutions of 382 a.C. (concerning the cursus publicus) in account, it is advanced a new hypothesis on the dating, through the identification of the C.Th.8.5.37’s adressee, the praefectus Augustalis Palladius, with the well known homonymous magister officiorum.

Le figure dei due consoli dell’anno 382 d.C. (Antonio e Siagrio) rimangono in parte oscure: si discute non solo su quale dei due fu il parente acquisito dell’imperatore Teodosio citato da Temistio, ma anche sulla necessità o meno di immaginare due distinti Syagrii che ricoprivano negli stessi anni alcune tra le massime cariche dell’impero. Altro tema centrale è la successione dei prefetti del pretorio in Occidente nello stesso anno e il ruolo di Severo. b) Prendendo in considerazione due costituzioni datate al 382 d.C. e aventi come tema il cursus publicus, si propone una nuova ipotesi ralativa alla datazione, tramite l’identificazione del destinatario di C.Th.8.5.37, il praefectus Augustalis Palladio, con il più noto omonimo magister officiorum.
