The article offers a contribution to the studies on the role of national Parliaments on EU development, after a 10-year practice from the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty. The first part recalls the main TFEU provisions referring to national Parliaments. Then, an analysis of the praxis of the political dialogue and of the early warning mechanism is offered, with special consideration to the three “yellow cards” issued by now. The attitude of the Commission towards the subsidiarity check is further scrutinized. Having underlined some drawbacks in the monitoring procedure, some proposals related to the strengthening of the National Parliaments’ role are discussed. According to these analyses, the article offers a conclusive assessment on the characterization of national Parliaments within the EU.
