The paper illustrates the evolution of judicial cooperation between Switzerland and the European Union both in the civil and commercial matter and, more recently, in criminal matters. The analysis is conducted following the research question whether it is possible to design a conceptual framework, which reflects one of the two classic methods (intergovernmental or ‘communautaire’), for the relationship between Switzerland and the European Union or if there is a third perspective to be taken.
