This article discusses the Women's Literacy Corps programme (sipah-i danish-i dukhtaran), its implementation, achievements and difficulties. Established in Iran in 1968, it aimed at increasing women's participation in the country's modernization and in the White Revolution which took place in Iran in the period 1963 to 1979 during the reign of the late Muhammad Reza Pahlavi (1941-79).

Abstract
