Dai testamenti alla memoria: opere figurative e architettoniche fra Sei e Settecento

The paper outlines an initial overview of those testamentary provisions, drawn up between the Seventeenth and early Eighteenth centuries, relating to the commissioning of funerary monuments in the churches of Turin and the Savoy territory. Primary was the role of some families belonging to the court aristocracy, of ancient and more recent affirmation, who clearly qualified places of worship, often under the ducal patronage. In this same chronological period, among the exponents of the ecclesiastical hierarchies, the role exercised by the fathers of the Congregation of the Oratory stood out. Finally, a particular space analyzed is that of welfare and charitable institutions in the representation of benefactors and donors.

l contributo traccia una prima panoramica su quelle disposizioni testamentarie, rogate fra Seicento e primo Settecento, relative alla commissione di monumenti funerari nelle chiese torinesi e del territorio sabaudo. Primario fu il ruolo di alcune famiglie appartenenti all’aristocrazia di corte, di antica e più recente affermazione, che qualificarono in modo evidente edifici di culto, spesso sotto il patronato ducale. In questo stesso arco cronologico, fra gli esponenti delle gerarchie ecclesiastiche, di spicco fu il ruolo esercitato dai padri della Congregazione dell’Oratorio. Uno spazio particolare, infine, analizzato è quello degli istituti assistenziali e caritativi nella rappresentazione dei benefattori e donatori.
