This study analyzes the representation of traditional Chilean medicine in twentieth-century differential lexicography, revealing that dictionaries are not neutral linguistic tools, but cultural artifacts shaped by ideological perspectives. The micro- and macrostructural analysis reveals a bias toward traditional medicine compared to the Western conception of medicine. This bias is reflected both in the greater visibility of terms related to herbal medicine and in the presence of linguistic markers that convey a distancing attitude. These elements underscore the ideological biases embedded in lexicographic representations, emphasizing the cultural hierarchies that shape the perception of traditional healing practices.

Abstract
This study analyzes the representation of traditional Chilean medicine in twentieth-century differential lexicography, revealing that dictionaries are not neutral linguistic tools, but cultural artifacts shaped by ideological perspectives. The micro- and macrostructural analysis reveals a bias toward traditional medicine compared to the Western conception of medicine. This bias is reflected both in the greater visibility of terms related to herbal medicine and in the presence of linguistic markers that convey a distancing attitude. These elements underscore the ideological biases embedded in lexicographic representations, emphasizing the cultural hierarchies that shape the perception of traditional healing practices.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
