Venous thromboembolism (VTE) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are commongly classified as two different disorders. Recently, however, some clinical studies suggest a possible intriguing association. Aim of this narrative review is to examine published evidence supporting the VTE-CVD relationship, in particular highlighting shared risk factors and the increased incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with a past VTE episode.
