The essay deals with the legal status of national minorities in Slovenia according to the perspective of the public educational system. In particular, the Author investigates both the historical privileged conditions of Italian and Hungarian minorities and the “agnostic” attitude kept towards the Slavic groups arrived in the Country (mostly) in the Yugoslavian era. At that time, but still nowadays, it’s not guaranteed for them any protection of their linguistic and national identity. Afterwards, the Author tries to define the reasons of the existing differences. He underlines the problematical implications of the issue and then he analyses the presence of possible evolutionary changes related to the process of European integration, to which, after accession in 2004, Slovenia also participates.

At that time, but still nowadays, it’s not guaranteed for them any protection of their linguistic and national identity. Afterwards, the Author tries to define the reasons of the existing differences.
