The supermodes of the 2D array of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers were studied. For each supermode, the mode amplitude of every laser and the common frequency correspond respectively to the eigenvectors and the eigenvalues of a suitable tridiagonal matrix. The linear stability analysis showed that the only stable supermode is the one where each laser is out-of-phase with its first neighbors. The effects of having two orthogonal states for light polarization are also considered.

Abstract
The supermodes of the 2D array of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers were studied. For each supermode, the mode amplitude of every laser and the common frequency correspond respectively to the eigenvectors and the eigenvalues of a suitable tridiagonal matrix. The linear stability analysis showed that the only stable supermode is the one where each laser is out-of-phase with its first neighbors. The effects of having two orthogonal states for light polarization are also considered.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
