Some fires occurred in the context of rail transport, and have led the research authorities to conduct specific studies to increase the security of the system. This research consisted in making real measurements of physical and chemical parameters of combustion that takes place in a railway carriage, specially provoked using a burner placed in the lower deck of a double floor wagon. The next step consisted in comparing the modeling results and the measured data during the real test, in order to highlight the criticality of the system of calculation and propose changes for improvement the theoretical approach. This aspect has been conducted for the temperature that is the main parameter related to a fire accident occurred in a rail wagon. The test experience was carried out also considering the smoke production and the visibility. The objective of the application was to compare the results of a model application with the measurements of visibility in case of fire. The aim of the work was to find out the criticisms and to organize an adequate evacuation plan
