The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of modifying incisor position by changing the arch form, before that incisor torque is expressed through the information inside brackets. Thirty patients needing an arch form variation were treated. Patients were bonded with straight-wire prescription and the arch form was chosen on the models with the help of a template. The arch sequence was: twist 0175, 016 NT, 018 SS, 18Ã25 SS. Records were taken with intraoral photographs (front and lateral projections, overjet, lower and upper occlusal) repeated for every arch. Results show that archwires can be used to control antero-posterior position of incisor teeth: in fact archwires can "add" or "subtract" torque to an existing bracket prescription.
