In our research we apply a new technique of sentiment analysis to Twitter data to estimate a new indicator of perceived and subjective well-being in the Italian provinces: The Social Well-being Index (SWBI), that examines many dimension of individual and social life. By providing an overview of the level of well-being across Italian province, the purpose is to provide results to investigate the effectiveness of local policies and to support researchers and institutions in the design of future well-being strategies. With this scope we use a multidimensional approach melting the SWBI dimensions with the well-known Il Sole 24 Ore QoL index from 2012 to 2016 to provide a subjective and objective index and to investigate whether the single components may adequately represent the reaction of local communities to changes in everyday life conditions.
