Nowadays, it seems very often that social sciences, and even more humanities, are trapped between two opposite but equally unsatisfactory alternatives: or completely conforming to the method of natural science (what push them towards a deleterious reductionism, which forgets precisely the most characteristic properties of their objects) either giving up the ambition of being forms of true knowledge (what push them towards an equally deleterious irrationalism, which makes them ineffective and therefore useless). On the contrary, precisely the correct understanding of the experimental method, its nature and its limits enables us to demonstrate the full legitimacy of other forms of true knowledge besides natural science, from which they do not differ for its nature, but only for the degree of certainty that can reach, since they use different methods which depend on their different objects and are nor completely identical neither completely different with respect to the experimental method, but analogous.
