The use of qualitative/semi-quantitative (control banding methods) or quantitative (exposure estimation models) approaches to assessing chemical risks in occupational settings is increasingly widespread, as support or as an alternative to the use of instrumental methods. However, although these methods are characterized by a wide range of applicability, to date, there is no solid and complete validation of these tools, able to evaluate extensively their applicability, accuracy and reliability. Therefore, although the results obtained through the application of algorithms and evaluation models allow some preliminary considerations for the chemical risk assessment, these results, in the absence of instrumental measures, cannot lead to conclusive judgments.
