The AA. describe the methods and results of a study performed in 33 rats to document the biointegration and bioefficiency of subcutaneous heterologous lyophilized collagen (HLC) implants. After respectively ten, twenty and thirty days from implantation, histopathological evaluations of the host tissues have been made. The AA. hypothesize the clinical use of HLC as a subcutaneous implant to repair pathological and paraphysiological defects of soft tissues.
