In Ukrainian, distal deictics tend to correlate with lower degrees of epistemic certainty. This work focuses on the correlative to, which in complex sentences can mark the main clause when the dependent is introduced by hypothetical, temporal, or causal markers. The main question addressed in this study is to find an explanation as to why the semantics of distals interacts with a series of non-factual, hypothetical or less certain contexts.
