In the present paper the consequences of the application of different EU targets to waste selective collection are analyzed concerning an Italian province where the effiency of waste source separation has reached very high values. The paper analyses the variation of the residual waste composition, the possibility to use biodrying process in order to produce SRF, and the Take-Back-Programs use for increasing the calorific value of the produced products too. The SRF energy recovery is assessed in combustion or gasification plants and, also, as substitute in cement factories. The aim of the paper is to present different scenarios and to analize the possibilities to achive the 2020 waste targets. The combination of an efficient SC, biodrying process, valorization of the combustible residual waste and thermal recovery of different products conduct to sustainable long-term energetic recovery of waste.
