Abstract
The new approach of medical knowledge to madness, based on the possibility of observing, investigating and curing the psychological disorder and affirmed by the new theories on the origin of deviance, has caused the progressive strengthening of internment as a response to the “question of madness” the 19th century. However, the real dynamics of psychiatric institutions revealed how these, although they were initially identified as places of care, soon proved instrumental to the control of the diversity practiced by what Foucault defines “disciplinary society”.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
