Abstract – This study focuses on the quotations from dramatic texts in Strabo’s Geography. It pre- sents a comprehensive catalogue of these citations and an analysis of their features and possible related textual and content-based issues. Furthermore, Strabo’s role in the indirect transmission of ancient drama is explored alongside the possible sources on which he draws, be these ancient editions of the plays or florilegia. Lastly, the use of dramatic quotations is assessed in the specific context in which they occur, casting more light on the function of each quotation.
