The Authors examined a 29-year-old white woman with discoid lupus erythematosus with eyelid involvement as the sole manifestation. When not suspected this disease may be mistaken for chronic blepharitis or other chronic skin disorder. Early diagnosis and treatment are desirable to prevent eyelid disfunction. L.E.D. is a manifestation with a small risk of systemic involvement. The clinical appearance of the lesion, laboratory studies, histologic examination and direct immunofluorescence are necessary for the diagnosis of L.E.D.. The ENA determination in patients with negative anti-DNA-antibodies is important to suppose the prognosis.
