The paper presents the analysis of the Arte de Curtir ó Instruccion General de Curtidos by Cayetano Miguélez (1805), the first document conceived as a technical manual in Spanish on leather tanning. The manual places itself in a discourse tradition delving into a world whose notions were transmitted orally or disseminated through the adaptation of foreign works. This study analyzes the paratext, focusing on the metalinguistic considerations with which the author enriches the text and ends with the presentation of the lexicon used.

Abstract
The paper presents the analysis of the Arte de Curtir ó Instruccion General de Curtidos by Cayetano Miguélez (1805), the first document conceived as a technical manual in Spanish on leather tanning. The manual places itself in a discourse tradition delving into a world whose notions were transmitted orally or disseminated through the adaptation of foreign works. This study analyzes the paratext, focusing on the metalinguistic considerations with which the author enriches the text and ends with the presentation of the lexicon used.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
