This article analyzes the morphological trends of the lexical units that make up the “Vocabulario de las palabras técnicas” included in the Manual del encuadernador, en todas sus partes (1839) by Sebastian Le Normand, translation of the French work Manuel du relieur dans toutes ses parties (1827). The manual is framed at a time when traditional arts and crafts are undergoing rapid industrialization, thanks to advances in science and technology. From a linguistic perspective, this process of reconfiguration will impact on the lexical level either with the entry of neologisms, or on the adaptation of the lexical creation processes to the new communicative demands. The study aims to expand the knowledge of this last point, focusing on the formal mechanisms that characterize the lexicogenetic processes of a technique, in the first decades of the nineteenth century. For this purpose, the work involves three steps: the presentation of the manual and its contents, the presentation of the lexicon object of study and finally the morphological analysis of the lexical units. The results show a lexicon that is in a transitional stage, with a morphological configuration that shows traces of the features that characterize the modern stages of a specialty lexicon, such as substantivation and syntagmation.

Abstract
The results show a lexicon that is in a transitional stage, with a morphological configuration that shows traces of the features that characterize the modern stages of a specialty lexicon, such as substantivation and syntagmation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
