Turismo e Diritti presi sul serio

The essay aims to describe the problems that can arise in the relationship between tourism and human rights, especially in the context of a globalised society in which tourism has become a mass phenomenon. In particular, it will focus on the rights of the populations of the countries of destination (so-called ‘indigenous tourism’) and on the respect for the principle of non-discrimination, with a focus on discrimination linked to sexual orientation. Finally, the main lines of a business strategy that might be required by States in order to create a culture of rights in this area will be proposed.

L’articolo tenta di ricostruire i molteplici problemi che possono sorgere nel rapporto tra turismo e diritti umani, soprattutto nel contesto della società globalizzata in cui il turismo è diventato fenomeno di massa. In modo particolare, ci si concentrerà sui diritti delle popolazioni dei Paesi di destinazione (cd. turismo indigeno) e sul rispetto del principio di non discriminazione, con un focus sulla discriminazione legata all’orientamento sessuale. Infine, saranno proposte le linee essenziali di una strategia aziendale che potrebbe essere richiesta dagli Stati al fine di creare una cultura dei diritti in materia.
