The newspaper Corriere della Sera reports a case of a Milan’s noble who haved wounded his lover with acid and after acquitted. The observations of the reporter Alessandro Clerici, aka Dottor Ry., about the trial and the work of the medical experts lead Cesare Lombroso to write to the paper and also to defende the role of the scientists in the trial. In the early 1900s Lombroso and Dottor Ry. return to confront on their opinions. The court case and the confront between Dottor Ry. and Lombroso give the opportunity to explore and to study in deep the relationship between science and law in the trial and in the theories of Enrico Ferri and Raffaele Garofalo.
