The paper takes on Guido Morselli’s positions in fields of aesthetics and interpretation of visual arts. The analysis, conducted through the critical reading of Realismo e fantasia. Dialoghi (1947), the most challenging theoretical book published by the writer during his lifetime, allows us not only to re-evaluate Morselli’s degree of knowledge and updating in philosophical and art-historical subjects, but also to seize the concrete outcome of a speculation that would have resulted in the active role of promoter of cultural events and exhibitions in Varese.
