Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management is a major concern for all urban areas, which needs to be accomplished referring to integrated strategies. Those strategies can be effective only as a result of commonly shared analyses and choices with respect to the entire involved territory. This paper presents a model for the implementation of integrated MSW management policies and an application of such model addressed to the specific scenario which characterizes the MSW management system currently adopted in the District of Frosinone (Lazio, Italy). Based on the environmental, social, economic and technological conditions of the specific area and on its developing potential, the model provides the environmental impact of the assumed scenario by means of an LCA-based procedure. Results of model application are presented in order to set the basis for a critical analysis of those treatment and disposal options currently available at the investigated area, and of the chosen solid waste (SW) flow allocation. This is aimed at supporting decision makers in the planning of future MSW management policies
